About the Department

The Bowie Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad was founded in 1928 with the mission to provide our citizens with the best possible Fire, Rescue, and Emergency Medical services possible. As our community has grown, so have we. We currently provide services from 3 stations. Our original station,Company 19(Olde Towne) is equipped with 2 Engines, a Tower Ladder, and an Ambulance. Company 39(Freestate) opened in 1964 and is equipped with 2 Engines, a Tower Ladder, Brush Truck, and an Ambulance. Company 43(Pointer Ridge) opened in 1970 and is equipped with 2 Engines, a Ladder Truck, Tanker, and an Ambulance. We are always seeking to grow our ranks to better serve the community.
